independence - Google Code

About

iNdependence is a Cocoa-based application for Mac OS X which provides an easy-to-use interface for jailbreak, activation, SSH installation, and ringtone/wallpaper/application installation on your iPhone. It's open source under the GNU v2 license.

The source code for interacting with the iPhone has been broken out into a library (libPhoneInteraction) so that it can be easily reused by other applications.

PLEASE READ THE HELP FILES THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING AN ISSUE

Documentation is now available from the Help menu within the application itself. Please read all of it before you post an issue, email me, etc. I can guarantee that 99% of the problems you will encounter are answered there. The rest are likely well documented already in the FAQ or in the issues section. Please also check for duplicate issues there before posting a new one. I just don't have the time to go through the multitude of issues there (many of which are duplicates or simply usage questions and not real issues).

News

Feb. 14/08 - Lots of great feedback and helpful information is rolling into the Beta14KnownIssues wiki page.

Feb. 13/08 - ok, the 10.4 issues have been resolved. Version 1.4 beta 2 will work on both 10.4 and 10.5. No code changes from the first beta, just added 10.4 compatibility is all. Again, report any issues you're having with 1.4 beta 2 on the Beta14KnownIssues page (make sure to check for duplicates).

Feb. 13/08 - Jumped the gun a bit on that release. Seems that it crashes on 10.4.

Feb. 13/08 - It's finally here. Version 1.4 beta. There's still a few kinks to work out, but overall it works pretty well with phone firmware 1.1.3. I even managed to update the documentation a bit. PLEASE NOTE You must run iNdependence from your hard drive. Do not run it directly from the .dmg file. See the CHANGELOG and the README for details about this release.

Feb. 12/08 - Finally, a 1.1.3 jailbreak I feel comfortable with. Congrats to Zibri and his excellent ZiPhone application! He and Geohot are the real heroes. This is the jailbreak method I plan to use in the upcoming version of iNdependence. So make sure to donate to them as well if you plan to donate to me.

ER: seems like 1.1.3 is almost there.. i am tempted to try out the upgrade.. but the iphone is now my primary device and hacking it still seems scarry.. maybe i'd wait for a week to see how people think..
