Gundam parts!

2007/05/02   13:30 JST   Wednesday   Comments (52)
Taken last week in Akiba. A shop that sells bags of spare Gunpla parts! If only I knew about this shop sooner then I wouldn't have had to bother sending an order form off to Bandai asking for replacement parts by snail mail. In the past I've broken the waist of my PG MK2, Face and fingers of my PG GP01 and some others which I forget. Todays question is whether you have broken or lost bits of your models during assembly and what you end up doing about it. But before the polls, have a gander at the rest of the photos.

Cant remember if the name of the shop was "Parts Paradise" or whether it was just the name of the bag O parts. When you get out of Akihabara station, walk into the old building above the new Kotobukiya shop - its on the 4th floor. If you are a Doujin person - its in the same building as Melon Books.

Different subject - Gunpla water decals - I need to go back to Asobit to get some. I like the way Bandai includes nasty stickers with the kit and make you pay about 500 yen more for decent ones.

More Shelf O Gundam shenanigans.

For those who love Gundam - you can say you are "Gundam Inochi" (ガンダム命(がんだむいのち))which means you devote your life to Gundam. You can stick "Inochi" on the end of a noun to say that you devote your life to X. So for example, "Moe Inochi" means that you lurve Moe.

My booty for the day. Wing Gundam, cans of paint, some doujinshi and an illustration book by illustrator Happoubijin (八宝備仁) - he does a lot of ero stuff. Also received an MG archive with pics of all 99 MG Gundams - a small announcement inside says that they will announce the 100th MG at the Shizuoka Hobby Show (I plan on attending if I dont fall sick again ^^;)

Radio Kaikan

ER: this is the place that i tried to go to everytime at Akihabwa, worth going to!

If you haven't done so already, the Radio Kaikan in Akiba is a place that I recommend you stop by on your next visit. Apart from K Books (doujin, eroge related goods) and spare Gundam parts, its worth making the trip just to check out the Kotobukiya store on the first and second floors. This is the view from Akihabara station entrance - its the Denkigai or "electric town" entrance. The Radio Kaikan is the building that you see with the yellow sign.

The Kotobukiya store on the first floor usually have some sort of event on the weekends.

This week they had some sort of card game promo. One of these girls is a popular cosplayer but I forgot her name.

And as with all the events they hold, there is usually a bunch of people gathering outside to take photos. It seems that Kotobukiya have changed their strategy on what they sell on the first floor. Before it used to be full of figures but now its full of stuff that gajin are most familiar with - a lot of Totoro, Majo no Takkyubin, Final Fantasy etc. If you walk in you will notice that their strategy is working as the place is usually full of gaijin.

Up on the second floor is another Kotobukiya store filled to the brim with figures. Getting acquainted with some of the top folks at Kotobukiya now means that I don't have to sneak around in their store to take photos ^^; This is the recently released Louise. Shame that the cast off is disabled.

The prices of the Kotobukiya figures at the store are all retail price. But if you are looking for rare Kotobukiya figures then its worth paying retail rather then trekking all over Akiba looking for rarity.

The lovely Good Smile petit series next to the worst Haruhi figures. More from Akiba this week - will also be posting Akiba stuff in the News Items which you can read or subscribe to.

Kensington Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter

Kensington Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter

I like this Kensington Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter as it is small enough to remain in your laptop to be stored in a bag without having to detach it or run the risk of breaking it on your travels. On the flipside, it is probably too small for most, and that makes it the perfect candidate to be misplaced wherever you go. It complies with Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR and supports A2DP wireless stereo streaming for those who cannot live without music. If your laptop does not yet have Bluetooth capability (because you were to cheap to realize your folly), the Kensington Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter can be picked up for $40.
